Plane For Sale In Canada – How To Find The Right Aircraft For Your Needs ...
If your looking to buy a plane for sale in Canada you have to realize that you are going to be dealing with a unique situation. The reality is that the Canadian airplane market is a lot smaller then the USA market. Not only that, it is a lot of work to buy an airplane in the USA and get it important to Canada so you can have it registered here.
That's okay though... A lot of pilots don't realize it, but there are a lot of great deals here in Canada on airplanes as well. The issue is that you just have to make sure you do the right things in order to find the best deal possible for your flying situation.
Here's 2 Things You Can Do To Help You Find A Better
Plane In Canada
First - Make Sure You Look "Offline" As Well As "Online":
One of the biggest mistakes most pilots make is they simply focus on trying to find a plane by using all the classified sites online. There is nothing wrong with looking online, but you have to realize that there is a whole world outside of the internet.
Not only that, you would not believe how many people list their planes for sale using offline sources that never make it to the Internet. It's hard to believe but there are quite a few older owners selling their planes at any given time and a lot of them simply don't care to much about listing it all over the Internet.
So the best thing you can do is start asking other pilots, mechanics & flight schools if they know of anyone interested in selling the type of plane you are looking at buying. You'd be surprised at how many pilots are thinking of selling but never get around to listing their airplane.
(Part of the reason is -- they just don't want to part with it!) (-:
There are a lot of owners out there who are "thinking" of selling but have just never gotten around to listing their airplane. Not only that - some of those planes are the best kept ones on the market!
Second - Make Sure You Look Beyond Your Desired Plane Type:
If you are in the market for a Cessna 172 and can't find one that you like in Canada, make sure you focus on looking outside your ideal plane type. You might want a Cessna 172, but what if you could find a really nice Cessna 182 for not much more?
Just make sure you look outside your plane type as the market is a lot smaller in Canada then it is in the USA. And not only that, it is a big pain in the butt importing planes to Canada from the USA. It could take months of your time and cost you a lot of money if you don't do it right.
So it might just be easier to get a similar plane compared to the one you were originally looking at verses having to buy one south of the boarder. You never really know what other types of planes are on the market until you start looking.
