Piper Vagabond...

Piper Vagabond – This Classic 2 Seater Aircraft
Is Still A Great Deal - Here's Why...

When it comes to getting yourself a nice historic taildragger (tailwheel) airplane you are going to want to make sure you find the right one that meets your needs. And if you are looking for a 2 seater taildragger, your going to want to make sure you have a look at the Piper Vagabond.

This is a Piper "Classic" that came off the assembly line in 1948 and there is still models flying around and on the used market.

IMPORTANT: Before you go out and buy yourself a Piper Vagabond, make sure you realize that there are 2 different versions of this airplane. There is the PA-15 & PA-17... Both are similar but they are both a bit different. One of the biggest differences is that the PA-17 features dual controls. But make sure you have a look at both before deciding on which one to buy.

Here's 2 Reasons Why The Piper Vagabond Is Still A Great Airplane...

Reason #1 - You Can Get Them For Cheap.

If you go out and try and find a new light sport aircraft (LSA) to buy that is a 2 seater, your going to probably spend around $100,000 USD at least! If you are in the market for a 2 seater for that price range, then good for you! But if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you should be able to find a good Piper Vagabond for around $30,000 to $40,000.

The thing you are going to have to pay attention to is the upgrades. Some of the ones on the used market right now are simply "stock" and are as they were when they rolled off the assembly line except for the fact that things have been updates. (Engine's been rebuilt, exc.)

Other models have been changed and you will find that they have a bigger engine as the base PA-15 Piper Vagabond only has a 65 horsepower engine in it. Your still going to go about 85-90mph, but with a bigger engine - your going to go even faster and have more power! (-:

Reason #2 - They Have "Side By Side" Seating...

If you know anything about the Piper Cub & Super Cub, you know that they have seating that is in a row. They are 2 seaters, but you are sitting in a row. Some people really like that and a lot of pilots prefer having that.

But if you want to have side by side seating your going to like the Piper Vagabond as it has seats that are side by side.

Bottom line is that this is a great airplane if you are looking for a classic to fly around for recreational purposes and have a lot of fun with!!
