New Aircraft For Sale - 2 Ways To Get The Best One Possible ...
The only thing better then getting your own aircraft is getting one that is new! It's like getting a new car but a hundred times better... That said - you are going to have to make sure you do some things right so you can get the best aircraft possible for your situation.
One of the biggest mistakes pilots make when buying a new aircraft is they go through the process way to fast and don't think things through. Buying a new aircraft is somewhat easier then buying a used one. That said - there are a few things you should do in order to make sure you get a good one that you can enjoy for years to come.
2 Things To Do BEFORE You Buy A New Aircraft That Is For Sale...
First - Make Sure You Test Fly At Least 2 Or 3 Types Of Comparable Aircraft's:
Don't make the mistake of just going based on the flight reviews of the aircraft that you are looking at buying. Though flight reviews are VERY HELPFUL you still want to get a personal feel for each airplane.
Reading the reviews and experts opinions are good and can be helpful in narrowing down the search to finding the best aircraft, but you still are going to want to make sure you test fly at least two or three comparable airplanes to the one that you are thinking of buying.
That way you can create a benchmark which will allow you to decide which one is really the best one. Because until you fly a few of them or fly in a few of them with the dealer rep, your not going to get a good feel for the flight characteristics.
Not only that, you need to get a good comfort feel as well. And the only way you can do that is test fly a few different ones. Every new aircraft looks good from the pictures, but you don't know which one is going to give you the best comfort feel for your body.
So just make sure you test fly or fly in a few different models that compare to the one you are looking at. Then you can better make an objective buying choice verses one based on pure love for the one you are looking at buying.
Second - Think About 5 Years From Now Before You Buy:
If your going to buy a new aircraft, your going to be spending a good amount of money and you don't want to get yourself into an aircraft that you will be bored with in 2 years and have to resell and go through this process all over again.
So make sure you think through what you really want and if you can grow into this aircraft. Not only that, make sure the aircraft can safely handle what you want it to once you have 500 hours on it. If you eventually want to do cross country flights in IFR conditions - you need to make sure you get a plane that is safely capable of doing this so you can grow into it.
You might not need the advanced features yet, but it is nice to know they are there when you need them in a few years.
