Luscombe 8A - Here's 2 Things You Need To Know About This Classic 2 Seater Aircraft...
The Luscombe 8 was designed in 1937 and from the start was ahead of it's time! And because of this, it became a very popular 2 seater aircraft and has continued to maintain it's popularity over the years. If you are looking for a great 2 seater classic, your going to want to make sure you really consider this airplane.
IMPORTANT: You have to make sure you realize that there are approximately seven versions of the Luscombe 8 (50). They are as follows: Luscombe Model 8 (50), Model 8A (Silvaire), Model 8B (Silvaire), Model 8C, D, E & F. Were going to focus on the 8A as it seems to be the most popular in terms of airplanes for sale on the current used market.
#1 - It's A Great Dual Purpose Airplane To Own...
The first purpose of this airplane is to own a classic. If you buy a Luscombe 8, your going to own a piece of aviation history and you'll likely turn heads every time you fly into an airport. There are a lot of good 2 seater's on the market but anyone who knows anything about classic airplanes is going to know what yours is and what it means.
The second purpose of owning this airplane is to get yourself into an airplane that is not going to break the bank in terms of operating costs. You have to realize that you only have to "gas up" a 65 horsepower engine. That means your not going to be spending a lot of money on keeping this airplane in the air when you compare it to other more high powered airplanes.
Reason #2 - They Are VERY Inexpensive To Buy On The Used Market...
The great thing about buying a Luscombe 8A is the fact that it is very cheap to buy. After a quick scan of the current inventory I was able to find good used ones for as low as $15,000! That is pretty good and very inexpensive if you are looking to get into flying.
Sure you can spend more money, but you don't have to spend much more then that to get a good one in top shape. Your only problem is going to be that there are not a lot for sale at any given time. They are an old classic & when pilots buy them - they usually keep them for quiet a long period of time.
