Evektor SportStar - Here's A Couple Things You Should Know
About This Great 2 Seater Airplane..
When it comes to finding the right two seater or S-LSA (depending on your country), there is no shortage of options. However, the Evektor SportStar is one that you really need to have a second look at as it is a very cool airplane that could provide you with years of fun.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you think through getting a two seater airplane. Some pilots think they are going to fly with 4 people all the time and after the first month, they never use the back seats. So don't discount the fact that the airplane is a 2 seater as in most cases that is probably all you'll be using.
Here's 2 Things You Should Know About The Kvektor
SportStar Before Buying One...
First - They Have Very Good Performance Specs...
The thing I really like about this airplane is the fact that it has a Rotax 912ULS engine in it. The reason that this is a good thing is because Rotax has been around for a very long time and they also make high performance engines for personal watercraft's, snowmobiles, exc.
And if you know anything about those - you know they are run to the max! So the Rotax engine is a very sturdy engine that should give you years of good flying. Not only that, with Rotax being so big and have been in business for so long, you should not have trouble finding parts in the even that you need them. It is not like this engine is made by a manufacture that only puts out 10 engines a year.
The other thing related to this is the fact that the fuel burn on the SportStar is very low! According to Evektor-Aerotechnik (the manufacture) the SportStar Max (non turbo) will burn 4 gal/hr.(1)
I'd say that is a pretty good fuel burn rate!
Second - There Is Not A Lot Of These Airplanes On The Used Market...
When you are buying an airplane you have to make sure you realize that you don't want to buy a model or brand that has a massive amount of inventory on the used market. The reason is that when you go to sell it again someday, you don't want to take a massive hit on the value due to the fact that there are so many for sale.
When it comes to the SportStar, there is a very small number of this aircraft on the used market as of this writing. That's a good thing as it shows that pilots are not buying them and just dumping them for other airplanes.
This is the type of airplane that once you buy it, you'll probably want to keep it for a long time. With the direct operating expenses being so low & the great engine it has - it should give you years of fun in the sky.
