Cessna Skyhawk - What You Need To Know About One Of The Most Popular Cessna’s Ever Built...

If You Are Looking For A 4 Seater Aircraft That Is For Sale - The Skyhawk Might Be Your Best Choice!

The basic Cessna 172 was rolled off the assembly line in 1955 and was called the “172”! It was not until 1961 until they created the “Skyhawk” version of the 172 in order to show a difference in the deluxe version of the traditional 172.

For the most part, the “Skyhawk” has been associated with a 172 that is more deluxe then the basic version. Around 1972 Cessna stopped marketing this version of the 172 and started calling all of their 172 models “Skyhawk’s”!

It is a great 4 seater aircraft that is going to get you where you want to go pretty quickly & it is going to be an easy airplane to grow into if you have trained on a 150 or 152.

But before you go out and buy one that is for sale, here are
2 things you are going to want to know about this aircraft.

#1 - The Skyhawk Has A Cruise Speed Of About 115 Knots...

Depending on the model that you buy, that is roughly how fast you are going to go with this aircraft. That is not super fast, but the bottom line is you are not going to be flying a rocket with 500 horsepower.

When it comes to the horsepower, your probably going to end up getting one with 160 horsepower. That is not a lot, but it is still quite a bit if you are looking at getting into an entry level 4 seater.

#2 - It Is A Lot More Comfortable Then it’s Low Wing Competitors...

Sure you might go a bit faster if you buy a low wing aircraft that is similar to the Cessna Skyhawk, but the reality is this aircraft is going to be way more comfortable and you are going to be able to pack more stuff in it.

It is a lot easier to get in and out of & you are not going to be as cramped while you are flying around if you have a few people with you. All in all, this is a great aircraft and you should consider buying one that is for sale if you can find a good one!
