When it comes to getting a brand new 2 seater airplane, there is no shortage of options now that light sport aircrafts have become so popular. The great thing about the whole LSA movement is the fact that it allowed Cessna to enter into the market with a light sport aircraft model of there own.
IMPORTANT: If your looking for some cheap, kit built LSA then this airplane is not going to be for you. It is not the cheapest new 2 seater on the market right now, but it is backed by the Cessna brand. Not only that - it is very nice looking!

#1 - It Has Incredible Design Features
The great thing about the Skycatcher is the fact that it has been designed very well by Cessna. They have spend massive amounts of time and resources making this airplane the way it is. It is essentially a new version of the old Cessna 152.
But if you look at them side by side, you will see that the Skycatcher is a lot nicer as it is newer. All as you have to do is have a look at the dash and you will see that it is the real deal... Cessna has put as much digital tools in as possible and have laid out everything very nice so it is easy to navigate.
The other great thing about the design is the fact that it looks great. It does not look "cheap" like a lot of the other LSA airplanes that have showed up on the market as of late. It looks very classy and very nice.
#2 - The Performance Specs
This is not an airplane that is only reserved for LSA pilots... If you have your full license and still want to fly a newer 2 seater, you can fly this too & still enjoy it. It does not have the performance of a "wanta be" airplane. It is the real deal and your going to love it.
Your going to get 100 hp which should give you around 100 to 105 knots cruise speed under perfect conditions. That is not bad when you consider how small it is. But the best part is going to be your fuel bill... This airplane is only 100 hp which means your not going to be spending a lot of money on fuel compared to bigger airplane that was manufactured 20 years ago...
Don't Make This Mistake
When buying an LSA, you have probably noticed that they don't go very fast compared to a lot of other aircraft on the market in terms of full fixed wing aircraft. But that's okay as long as you know what you are getting into.
If you want an airplane that goes 200 knots in cruise, then buy one. But don't keep focusing on the aircraft that goes 200 knots in cruise and then be frustrated that your LSA only goes half that! Your just going to set yourself up for frustration.
So, make sure you are okay with the performance spec's of the LSA that you are buying so you can enjoy the airplane that you have and won't be so focused on the airplane that you don't have! Because if you are constantly focused on what you don't have in the airplane that you just bought, your going to end up dumping it for a newer bigger aircraft a lot sooner then you really wanted to.
#3 - The Certainty Of Owning A Cessna
A lot of pilots don't think this through, but when it comes to buying a light sport aircraft you have probably noticed that there are a lot of small manufactures on the market & there are even a few that have had to close down.
That's not a good thing when you own one of the airplanes of those manufactures who are no longer in business or on their way out. Sure the airplane might be really good and you might really love flying it. But your resale value is going to get hit in most cases & you might find that when you do go to sell it - it could take you a long time to get a sale done.
But because Cessna has been around for a really long time & is part of a bigger company that is a public corporation, you should not have to worry about this issue. Cessna parts are all over the place & most aviation mechanics know how to fix Cessna's.
So although the 162 is not the cheapest LSA on the market - it is very well rounded and has a great brand behind it that makes it worth looking at.
